4 Things For Moms To Remember Today

Today is Mothers Day and I wanted give a shout out to my mom, Rita, and my amazing wife Rene. This verse definitely applies to each of you.

Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!
~ Proverbs 31:28-29

Here are 4 things for all of you wonderful ladies to remember today.

1. If you feel busy, stressed, stretched and frazzled it’s because you are busy holding your family together. You literally have at least 19 full-time jobs. You are a …
– Taxi driver
– Potty trainer
– Birthday event director
– Stain removal expert
– Scary monster patrol
– CEO of laundry
– Personal Chef
– Sanitation engineer
– Keeper of secrets
– Corrector of kids
– Friend of God
– Referee
– Family Therapist
– Personal assistant
– Pool safety patrol
– Vacation coordinator
– In-law mediator
– Spiritual mentor
– Finance manager

2. Don’t compare what you know about yourself to what you don’t know about other moms. The only person you should compare yourself to is who you were yesterday. Though it may seem like there is a “perfect mom” out there – I promise there is not. (Just like there is not a perfect dad btw.) And I also promise you are perfect for your family. Live in that truth. Trust that truth. Believe that God is not surprised with where you are at. And He is not finished with you yet! Yes, you may have made some mistakes in the past week, month, year or decade. But that does not mean God is done with you. He has given you the great position of “mom hood” … love and live in that curious calling.  And trust in His strength when yours fails.

3. If your mom has already passed away I promise she would be proud of you. She knows how hard it is to be a mom and I promise she is cheering you on. I know there are many moments you would like to call her on the phone and ask questions, laugh or cry together. I know there is a void in your heart this Mothers Day as you deeply miss your mom. Carve out time to miss her. There is nothing wrong with that. She is largely responsible for who you have become. Be thankful for her. Bless and remember her. But don’t spend this whole day in the past. Remember you have a family and a future ahead. Love your past but live in the now.

4. You are strong and you can do it. Whatever you are facing God will give you the strength, courage, wisdom and words when you need them … but usually not before!  God has not placed you where you are to fail. Through Christ you are able to do more than you would ever imagine or dream. And with the power and presence of the Holy Spirit of God that lives in you … you can act, react, respond and rise up to meet any challenge that is placed before you. You are a mom … and YOU ARE AMAZING!

And remember men the three words that every mom needs to hear on Mothers Day …

LET’S EAT OUT!

*** I did not have my amazing wife’s edit before posting this article … please forgive a husbands grammar.
